Terms and Conditions for Buggy Use

By pressing submit, you are agreeing to the following conditions for use of our private buggy

  • Golf buggies on Hamilton Island are registered road vehicles and drivers are required to follow all Queensland road rules.    In particular, the rules regarding driving with a valid driver’s licence, consumption of alcohol, overloading (maximum 4 people per buggy), use of seatbelts and child restraints.
  • Remember in Australia we drive on the left-hand side of the road.
  • There is a Police presence on Hamilton Island and infringement notices will be issued if an offence is committed.
  • Your buggy is only to be driven on designated roads.
  • There is a buggy curfew – buggies cannot be driven between 1.00am and 5.30am.
  • Only nominated drivers with a valid driver’s licence are permitted to drive the buggy at any time.  Children are not permitted to operate the buggy at any time.
  • When operating your buggy each occupant is required to wear a seatbelt, with maximum seating to be four people, including children.
  • Legislation requires all children zero to six months are placed in a baby capsule facing the seat it is secured to.   Children six months to four years are to be in a child seat facing the same direction as the seat it is secured to.
  • It is the responsibility of the driver to ensure all rules are adhered to.
  • Before driving the buggy, It is the driver’s responsibility to conduct a visual inspection of the buggy and note any damages.
  • By driving the buggy, guests accept any liability for the buggy/buggies for the duration of their stay,  including any third party property damage caused.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS 

  • To turn the buggy on, insert the key into the ignition.
  • Turn to the key to forward, reverse depending on the direction you wish to drive.
  • Notice the buzzer will sound in reverse.
  • The pedals are located on the floor in front of the driver.  The “go” pedal is on the right and the “stop” pedal is on the left.
  • Tap the “go” pedal to release the parking brake.
  • The parking brake will engage when you turn the ignition to off.
  • Indicators are located on the steering column and the head light switch is located next to the ignition.
  • Before you drive away, make sure all passengers are wearing their seatbelts.
  • When you park the buggy, make sure you take your key with you and ensure the park brake is applied.
  • When fully charged, your buggy has approximately 60 minutes of running time.  This will vary depending on the age of your buggy and the weight load/hills your buggy is taking on.

Charging

  • Your buggy will need to be charged for at least 8 hours overnight.   Charging this buggy in short bursts can cause damage to the batteries, so please ensure you charge overnight.
  • There are two cables with your buggy.  Take the rear power cable and plug into any normal power outlet.
  • Make sure the power outlet is turned on.
  • Make sure the buggy lights are off.
  • Take the cable located between the middle of the front seat and plug this into the outlet under the driver’s seat.  A GREEN LIGHT will start flashing when the buggy is charging.  If the GREEN LIGHT is not flashing, the buggy is not charging.   Check both cables are correctly plugged in.
  • Make sure you unplug the cables prior to driving your buggy.

Issues/Buggy Damage

  • If there are any problems with your buggy during your stay please contact your booking agent.
  • Any accidents, damage or buggy issues must be reported immediately.
  • Failure to adhere to all rules will result in your buggy being confiscated for the duration of your stay.

CLUB CAR

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS 

  • To turn the buggy on, insert the key into the ignition and turn to the on position.     
  • The forward and reverse switch it located by your right leg under the seat.
  • Make sure the switch is always in either “forward” or “reverse” as the buggy will not move in the central position.
  • Notice the buzzer will sound when in reverse.
  • The pedals are located on the floor in front of the driver.  The “go” pedal is on the right and the “stop” pedal is on the left.  These work the same as the pedals in your normal car.
  • Located on the top left corner of the “stop” pedal is the parking brake.   Push this down with your foot to lock it in place so your buggy doesn’t roll away.
  • Tap the “go” pedal to release the parking brake.
  • Indicators are located on the steering column and the head light switch is located next to the ignition.
  • Before you drive away, make sure all passengers are wearing their seatbelts.
  • When you park the buggy, make sure you take your key with you and ensure the park brake is applied.
  • Many buggies look the same or similar.  Take a photo of the licence plate of your buggy to easily identify it.
  • When fully charged, your buggy has approximately 75 minutes of running time.  This may vary depending on the age of your buggy and the weight load/hills your buggy is taking on.

Charging

  • Your buggy will need to be charged any time you return to your accommodation.  Your buggy should be charged for at least 8 hours overnight.
  • To charge, take the power cable and plug into any normal power outlet.
  •  Make sure the power outlet is turned on.
  • Make sure the buggy lights are switched off during charging.
  • Make sure you unplug the cable prior to driving your buggy.
  • If your buggy is not charged correctly and requires towing, you may be charged a $150 towing fee.

  • Any accidents, damage or buggy issues must be reported immediately to you booking agent.
  • Failure to adhere to all rules will result in your buggy being confiscated for the duration of your stay.
